Some question about cool cars?
May 19th, 2009 | by admin |4GigZ asked:
Does a car’s interior also get hot because it’s essentially a big piece of metal/aluminum/yada that absorbs heat? With having window tints/sunshades in mind, what can i you do to cool the car down? Would some type of insulation under the carpet/roof help in rejecting heat entering?

Well, one way to cool the car down would be to leave the windows open a little bit when you know it won’t rain and if you have a good alarm system.
Another way would be to just try to park in the shade - it makes a big difference. I’m not sure about the insulation idea - perhaps if there is some kind of special material.
But a better way would be to buy a white car because the white paint on your roof would reflect away more sunlight than if you had a dark colored roof and hood.

They sell window fans powered from solar energy. Apparently, they circulate air when the car is parked, and help to keep it cool inside. Never tried it but sounds somewhat reasonable. Just don’t expect miracles outside minor-to-moderate improvement.
I personally fight this problem by buying white or silver cars. Result is guarranteed!

Insulation Will help.In restoring antique cars and trucks insulation is a must because of the heavier steel the body used in constructed of these old vehicles causes them to get really hot in hot weather.
